When HostNine first offered their new virtual private servers, I knew I would not be disappointed. I get exactly what I want: a "blank" system, a root shell, and an ssh-based serial console as backup. I configure the system in exactly the way I want.

And the system absolutely screams. My processes run as if they're the only ones on the system. Disk I/O is enormously fast. And I can move huge amounts of data over the net and keep a latency-free shell.

Account Setup Feedback

Account setup is trivial: I select from 3 different capacity packages (RAM, disk space, bandwidth), and from 4 different Linux-based operating systems (Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOS), and check out. I've got an IP address and a default root password. Done. (I just wish they also offered FreeBSD as an operating system choice.)

Host Reliability

I've had 5 nines of reliability with my Spring Server VPS.

HostNine VPS may not be the cheapest out there, but I do feel it's worth every penny so far.

Final Host Comments

Spring Server VPS gives me exactly what I want without any extra "Plesk" or "cPanel" overhead. I get a truly blank system that I can configure my way and that performs like a rocket on steroids. And this from a company I've used for years and one of the few companies I can honestly trust.
