Here is what Mark Halloran had to say about iPower and the overall experience with their Virtual Private Servers hosting service.

We've been simple hosting customers for 5 years. We have a large website, but not tons of traffic. We're using OSCommerce, mySql, php. Now that they've moved to server farms, our performance during the peak periods is abysmal .. I mean totally un-usable. we should be able to count on 4-8 orders per day (hey, we're a mom and pop, not ebay).

Host Reliability

Now, during lunch, fo-get-about-it, a db query takes >60 seconds. We've been fighting ipower to address the performance problems, they claim that at 10pm, there's no problem (*DOH*). So, as a last resort, we decided to upgrade to VPS... Oh, the pain, the failure, the not-ready-for-prime-time implementation. The control panel does not work, the apache config page does not work, although you can load phpadmin, you have to pay more (only 2.50/mo...) for a DB. Hell, is this why apache is running but not avail, do I need to ante up for that as well.

Well, maybe... Every necessity seems to cost extra.

This company used to excel at bringing more service for less, now they're some of the most "car salesman" types (ok, maybe worse, say wall-street) types. I'm looking elsewhere and your input as to reputable sites is welcome.

Worse, the submit ticket function isn't working on the support page, the documentation consists of telling you what's on the page, plesk interface failes to load and errors out on each left column link. It seems to me, they're out for money, service is horrid, no accountability. I hope you can see that although I'm not YELLING, I should be. This is pathetic.
