Here is what Christopher Ludwig had to say about StartLogic and the overall experience with their Virtual Private Servers hosting service.

First thoughts, I thought they were good. Knowledgable. I was wrong, their support is useless and not experienced with their own packages and platforms.

I called about a DNS problem, I was told that i had to change my DNS template to resolve the problem. I spent 2 hours on the phone trouble shooting the problem, then another hour re-editing my DNS template, which when i finished i called their support back up to check, they then said it was not correct and for $50 they could fix it. I declined their offer and researched and found that what was there initially was correct and then had to put back the original settings. finally after 4 hours of startlogics troubleshooting a different support member told me all i had to do in actuality was point my domain to the right nameserver.

The support is just plain horrible. I called another time and the start logic tech support staff member was not able to log in. she didn't seem to see that as a problem, she just told me to call back in 20 mins? I honestly have nothing positive to say about startlogics VPS and their support.

Account Setup Feedback

It was rather easy as long as you don't call their tech support. they will mis-guide you.

Host Reliability

Our VPS has not worked without an errors for 2 weeks. it has only been up for just over a month which really makes it about a 50% failure. thats not acceptable.

Pricing Info

I assume it's average, and wouldn't be bad if the service actually worked.

Final Host Comments

I am sure that there is a better VPS solution out there. Start logic is not the solution for a company that revolves around their emails and web server working. Their support is sub par. Their staff does not have a good working knowledge of their platform or how to trouble shoot it. I have used startlogics shared hosting for years without problem but i think they bite off more than they can chew with the whole vps thing. I will be taking the $30 hit for early cancelation and will be canceling my account.

I have had to make more calls to them to try and resolve issues. Each tech support rep i have talked to does not appear to have a firm understanding of their platforms or how to trouble shoot them. I have been mislead and guided to change settings that have nothing to do with the initial problem. More times than not they don't have a clue what the problem is and actually tell me that, which is not very re-assuring. My company revolves around emails and this server and to be told they don't have a clue why it isn't working does not fill me with much hope.
