Dotster is a very popular domain name registrar that offers reliable web hosting to their clients. Dotster offers cPanel VPS, Linux Plesk, and Windows Plesk as virtual private server options.

Dotster Linux VPS plans include up to 60GB disk space, up to 768MB RAM, and up to 2TB of bandwidth. Dotster offers their intro plan with 356MB RAM, 20GB space, and 500GB bandwidth.

One of the things that confused us at VPS Host Reviews is the shift between cPanel Standard, cPanel Pro, and cPanel Premium VPS plans, the middle cPanel Pro option doesn't offer enhanced RAM for the added price. We think, for the price, the middle package should have 512MB RAM, not 356MB. This is also true with their Plesk Linux VPS option.

Dotster VPS plans are prices about average to higher than average compared to other popular VPS hosting companies. For their cPanel VPS and Plesk Linux VPS, they priced both packages the same but the cPanel VPS is the better deal because you can host unlimited domains whereas the Plesk VPS only allows 10 domains to be hosted.

Dotster is reported to be reliable as far as stability and uptimes. Most Dotster VPS clients are satisfied with the service although some express concern over their higher prices compared to other offers they've seen advertised elsewhere.

Dotster is rated as average on VPS Host Reviews because of limitations on their customer support options. Dotster also has had complaints in 2009 about their support not being 24/7 as they advertise, however, there have been no recent complaints regarding this issue so they may have fixed any issues.

Overall, after reviewing Dotster for their support options, we found several issues that caused us to rate them low. First, they do not offer toll free telephone support. If you need to call them for any reason, expect toll charges. Second, no live chat option. Sometimes it is nice to sign on and send a quick live chat support request should an issue arise, but with Dotster, this is not an option. Third, Dotster has a limited knowledgebase for their customers that appears to be outdated. There is no easy way to browse all knowledgebase articles and the best option for you would be search and to hope for the best.
