1and1 is a Plesk VPS provider that offers VPS hosting in both Windows VPS and Linux VPS varieties. 1and1 offers three levels of Plesk VPS service with increasing memory, disk space, and bandwidth as you choose between Virtual Server I, Virtual Server II, and Virtual Server III.

Each plan they provide costs the same for Windows or Linux but the specifications under each plan between Linux and Windows changes, which can be confusing. For instance, Virtual Server I has 256MB guaranteed RAM and 1GB burstable RAM for Linux and 512MB RAM for Windows. This is something to watch for as you choose your plan.

1and1 VPS hosting is priced a little cheaper than average compared to other hosts, however, they offer a smaller amount of disk space on these plans compared to other popular web hosts.

1and1 may have some issues with reliability. It appears that reliability is hit or miss depending on the server they place you on. You may (or may not) get better service is you opt for their more expensive plans. We have read several independent reviews of 1and1 that say their VPS hosting options and the other more expensive options are better quality. Based on our reviews here at VPS Host Reviews, we've found their Plesk VPS reviews to be hit and miss. Some customers have had no problems while others have experienced problematic uptimes and reliability.

1and1 has previously received several complaints about nonexistent customer support here on VPS hosting reviews. Please be sure to do your due-diligence and make sure their support is the quality you require before purchasing. As with all review sites, people tend to report problems more frequently than reporting great experiences. Be sure 1and1 is the quality you require by calling, emailing, and whatever else you feel the need to test before making your purchase.

Overall, we at VPS Host Reviews feel that 1and1 should offer many more support options. We were unable to locate a community forum, an expanded knowledge base, an extensive how-to database, and several other options we feel should be made available before purchasing. We also love live chat as a support option and, unfortunately, we couldn't find any live chat support options available for 1and1.
